Veronica Lavery Says “The Food You Eat is Way More Impactful Than the Amount of Exercises You Do.”

Veronica Lavery

A model, singer, pilates trainer and a licensed Skin Therapist is none other than Veronica Lavery who grew up in a small northern town called Vrchlabí, known as the Gate to the Giant Mountains (Krkonose) of the Czech Republic.

Besides her entertainment ventures; and exploring the world of music she has an eye on her upcoming YoutubeChannel. She has been on the cover of Playboy Magazine in Czech Republic and has numerous Playboy Playmate features around the world, along with tattoo, fashion and beauty magazines internationally.

Women Fitness is happy to have Veronica Lavery on the website where she answers questions on her career, diet, fitness and beauty routine. She is in conversation with Namita Nayyar, President, Women Fitness.’

Namita Nayyar:

You were born in 1991 in the Czech Republic and did various stage plays, band and dance performances since a very young age. In 2011 you became a Playboy model in the USA and since then there has been no looking back. Tell us more about this spectacular modeling journey and how it all began?

Veronica Lavery:

It was never my intention to ever be a model, but as life itself often unfolds, the unexpected is usually what is the most beautiful and successful. I remember starting using myspace when I moved to Sacramento, CA. I never used that thing back in Czech Republic so this social media in general were a very new thing to me, no matter how down the myspace fever was going. After people started seeing my pictures online and learning about me they offered me to take professional photographs and as I became more interested in the idea of modeling, I did some research, set up a modelmayhem.com account and my journey took from there. I kept on doing what I enjoyed, which was being in front of the camera; I did it as much as I could because it was my little escape from the reality I was facing. New country, new language, new culture, no friends, no connections. It basically took me from a very dark place onto finally a path that I liked myself walking through. Before modeling I also had no confidence in myself or my looks, I was more of a tomboy, piercings, crazy hair, eco kid. Modeling opened up the world of femininity and everything associated with it. And in no time, I had bunch of beautiful images together where people admired my ‘portfolio’ and I had to google what portfolio even means haha I had no idea what I was doing or where my shooting passion is gonna take me.

Namita Nayyar:

You are a world leading Media Personality, Fashion & Glamour Model and an Actress. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Veronica Lavery :

First of all, thank you for saying that. I have a lot on my plate, and that is a good but also a bad thing, instead of being focused only on one thing, I always get inspired by new ideas and changing my directions. However, modeling will always be something I enjoy doing, acting is fun too but I like to be in control of what I’m doing and saying, so working on my own projects would be my preference in the long-term goal. I got myself also back to school and putting myself through school with TV and Film major, as well as finishing my Skin care specialist license again brings in so many other dimensions into my daily life. I honestly can’t wait to have my school off my mind and fully focus on what I find is important. But I’m glad I did modeling full time for some time, it allowed me to be focused, and saved me money to be able to go to school later on and do other things.

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine?

Veronica Lavery :

I do a resistance training and work a lot on my core, as well as yoga and jump rope, and walking my dog Timmy. I used to do spinning classes, but my legs are already very sporty looking so by not doing that for a few months I can see that my legs look even better without all that training lol. Also, once I move to a bigger place my top priority is my little gym room and a pilates machine. But I must say that the food you eat can be way more impactful than the amount of exercises you do.

Namita Nayyar:

Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Veronica Lavery :

I used to be a full strict vegan for about 6yrs, as time progressed, and I started learning more about my body I figured that this is just not the way to go. I still don’t eat cheese and most dairy products or any meats or shellfish, but I did start eating egg whites, fish and greek yogurts on occasion. I just listen to my cravings and my taste buds. I’ve no desire to eat meat but fish doesn’t bother me if it doesn’t smell like fish 🙂 I also don’t eat any processed foods or fatty/greasy dishes. I’d say my diet is very particular, hard to explain that briefly like most people do.

Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?

Veronica Lavery :

Thank you for that 🙂 Since I started modeling I started paying attention to my skin and see what works and what doesn’t for me. I’m also soon to be licensed Skin Specialist so skin is truly my passion too. There’s so much information at our fingertips these days, those who want, they can really learn a lot just from reading about different ingredients and skin conditions and pick their products and treatments accordingly. I love face masks/sheet masks, steamers, and anything new to try. My hair is an optical illusion haha I’ve been relying on clip in hair extensions for photoshoots, they truly do an amazing job and boost my confidence. My hair on its’ own is a typical ‘European style’, flat, fine and with no volume lol

Namita Nayyar:

You moved from Czech Republic to California for your professional career. For a model adjusting to new countries with their own cultures it must be difficult and then to adjust with the modeling career in a new foreign land. What, according to you, is the one best and the one worst thing about all the travelling that you must do?

Veronica Lavery :

No, I didn’t move to California to become a model. But I became one shortly after moving out here, I’m glad I found an artistic escape for myself because back in Czech Republic I luved our garage punk band, I loved my friends and activities we were doing together. When I moved out here i had nothing. Getting used to the language has been hard I won’t lie about that but every uncomfortable situation makes you feel more comfortable afterwards so I take chances, I go with the flow, I challenge myself and learn from my mistakes. The best thing about traveling has been the amount of experiences and different perspectives you get exposed to, it broadens up your horizons enormously. The bad thing would be having the time go by so fast and not really building a solid base if you want one. Those past years flew by truly very quickly. I was traveling a few times a month for years. That was when I also decided to go back to school because I didn’t want to wake up in my 30s and think “where did all the time go? or what do I do now?” lol

Namita Nayyar:

Tell us about your current Top 3 Fashion Must-Haves?

Veronica Lavery :

I luv boots that clap and have a little heel, I also cannot imagine myself without nice bags, high waisted jeans and nice scarfs and belts, they add so much to an outfit.

Namita Nayyar:

Share with us your Top 3 Favourite Vegan Recipes that you absolutely love?

Veronica Lavery :

I like making my own frozen treats, like mixing soft tofu with banana, little bit of almond/coconut or soymilk, stevia, and an unsweetened raw coco powder into a mixture, it’s so yummy and filling!

I’m also a sucker for puddings, Dr.Oetker to be exact. I mix them with any non-dairy milk and luv eating them while still hot. And any vegan bakery is like a heaven to me, heaven that I cannot pass by too often haha

Namita Nayyar:

Tell us about your experience as an actress in the movies “In The Mind’s Eye” and “HitchHiker Massacre”? Also, we would like to know something about your future endeavors?

Veronica Lavery :

Those two films we filmed in 2013 I believe, this tells you how long it often time takes for movies to get out, not within almost an instant comparing to photoshoots. The experience on every movie set I’ve had has been pretty much very pleasant, I personally enjoy the creative process of making a film a lot. The only thing that I’d change is the repetitive stereotypical role casting calls I’ve been receiving and turning down at the same time because I just don’t want to portray a character that has no dimensions to her, and is basically just some piece of meat with nothing to inspire with. As for the future endeavors, I’ll be done with my university degree in 2017, getting that off my shoulders as well as being in the skin care industry while modeling and producing my own material will be on my radar. I’ve had this talk show podcast type of show in my mind for a long time now so I feel like I’d like to bring my visions to life soon. Family planning has also been on our mind for quite some time now so we will see when the motherhood will surprise me 🙂

Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding models, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of modeling?

Veronica Lavery:

Advices often sound very cliche to me, but I can’t stress enough how important it is to be yourself, seriously. This such a simple saying can get you a long way. Stop comparing yourself to other women in the industry, cherish the inner uniqueness you have in you and build on that. Surround yourself with positivity and do what YOU want to do, not what anybody else tells you you should do. And learn from your mistakes, you will never grow both in career and personal life if you never realize what life lesson you’ve been put through and how to deal with them. And, how important it is to transform your future accordingly in order to achieve the journey that has been set up for you by the universe.

Namita Nayyar:

You have done bold photo shoots for Playboy, Maxim En Espanol, FHM, Avenged Sevenfold, T.Mills, and Tattoo magazines. How are you so body confident and advice to your compatriots?

Veronica Lavery :

That’s just to name the few, I’ve been in many publications internationally which looking back makes me happy and proud. I think all models and people in the public eye can relate to the idea that you just have to ‘turn it up’, no matter how bad your day is, how low self-esteem you have that day of the photoshoot, you have to leave all the baggage behind and be YOU. Camera catches everything, and people that truly know me know how readable my face is without even saying a word, so I must be very careful when being in front of the cameras to make sure they don’t catch the ‘bad thoughts’ in my head in pictures. Also, once you start working with more and more people, you will (hopefully) learn what not to do and what to do well. Once you have that confidence that you know you can do this and you do it great, it will show on your work and if you have a few layers on or off, it doesn’t matter. The amount of skin shown shouldn’t affect your confidence. The clothes is not wearing you. YOU are the one owning it and making the picture marked by YOU.

Namita Nayyar:

What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?

Veronica Lavery :

I think it’s wonderful to see how many celebrities took the time to be able to share their thoughts and ideas through your website. It makes me happy to see how passion driven you guys are and how you really put time and effort into your articles. I hope it will be only growing and I wish that everyone will not just believe whatever they find online but check its’ sources and re-evaluate it accordingly.
