You can start doing some basic easy exercise, like pelvic tilts, soon after delivery (only if you feel up to it). Three to four weeks is usually a safe time frame. This week's article focuses on Getting Back in shape: Rebuilding the Foundation.

Enjoy good health,

Breakfast should be the largest meal of the day, yet people often skip it completely. Eating breakfast gives you a head start on an energized and healthy day. Also, not eating breakfast may cause your resting metabolic rate to dip by 5 percent - a small decline that may creep up to a 10-pound weight gain in a years time.

Who is Holding You Back?

What if someone were to actively prevent you from achieving success? How would you feel about that person? What if that person was constantly coming up with reasons to discourage you, always talking you out of taking action? What if that person was you? It very well may be. Quite possibly, you are your own worst enemy, when it comes to pursuing success and achievement.

Do you ever catch yourself saying "I could never do that"? Does that little voice inside you express disdain for your goals, and come up with dozens of reasons why they can't be achieved? The limitations placed on you require your cooperation if they're to hold you back. The good news is, you don't have to cooperate with them. That little voice inside your head can say anything you want it to say. Do you really want to be the primary advocate for your own limitations? Of course not!

Just imagine what you could accomplish if you were one hundred percent supportive of yourself. NOW, stop imagining and start living it. Your limitations are powerless without your cooperation, so choose to leave them behind in the dust as you reach for the stars.

Getting Back in shape: Rebuilding the Foundation

After delivery of a baby, your abdominal muscles will be sore for a while. They will work and function normally; however, they will get sore more easily. This is expected. These are growth pains as your muscles build back up to their normal size and strength. So you need to slowly return to your normal exercise routine.

When to Start a Program

Vaginal Deliveries. You can start doing some basic easy exercise, like pelvic tilts, soon after delivery (only if you feel up to it). Three to four weeks is usually a safe time frame. When your physician gives you the go-ahead to start walking, then you should be able to begin phase one of the program. This phase should usually last between three and six weeks. Remember, your abs may get sorer than normal and this will affect how hard you should push yourself. If youre too sore to train for your next scheduled session, you did too much did too much in your last session. Only move on to Phase Two when you feel youve built a foundation. This would mean you can do the routine without having to push yourself and you experience only mild soreness, if any at all.
