Hot Fitness Tip of the week
The ideal back has a 'V' shape - strong, broad shoulders, tapering down to a trim waistline. For this, you need to concentrate on building up the latissimus dorsi, the rhomboids and the trapezius muscles. When you're performing back-strengthening exercises, try and keep your back straight, and your abdominal muscles pulled in. This gives you a firm central 'core' to work with.

Words of Inspiration

You're Making Progress

As long as you're taking consistent, positive action, you're making progress. At times, it may seem that you're going backwards. At times, it will be frustrating when the results don't come as quickly as you had hoped. Still, you are making progress.

Achievement is a process, not a single event. To achieve any goal, you must cover a lot of ground. You need to learn what works, and what does not work. You must explore possibilities, many of which will not turn out to be feasible. Still, with every action you're making progress. Even the setbacks are necessary stepping stones on the path to success.

Keep up the good work. Keep up the effort. You're well on your way by now. With every moment, you get closer. With every effort, you make progress, no matter what the short-term results. You've come a long way. Keep going!

Going Yoga way to fight Obesity

A person of normal weight takes a diet which is sufficient to sustain daily activities without storing energy in the form of fat tissue. Putting on weight, however, means there has been a change in our lifestyle that is conducive to storing energy (calories) in the form of fat tissue. Also, when we speak of obesity in yoga, we refer not only to the physical body, but to all the aspects of our being and the way in which we nourish and mobilize them. In most cases aim of yoga is not just reduction of weight, but this is bound to happen as an outcome of our increased self-awareness.

The best asanas for obesity are the Pawanamuktasana series for the digestive system which help to remove extra fat from the abdomen, hips and thighs, and activate the energy in the lower panic centers.

In yoga therapy the body is the instrument, not the end; it is the means, not the aim. So, it is not just the techniques that are important, but also the attitude with which we undertake them, how disciplined and regular we are in the practice.
