Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar had a candid interview with CiCi Coleman who is a leading Actress, Television Star and an Influencer where she talks about her workout, diet, beauty secrets and success story.

Namita Nayyar:

A healthy morning ritual that you follow?

CiCi Coleman:

I always make my bed. Messy bed, messy brain. It’s the first ‘task’ of the day completed. I find I’m more proactive if I do.

Namita Nayyar:

You are UK’s most loved server in the hugely popular and award-winning series First Dates Restaurant and First Dates Hotel. What motivated you to take up this endeavor?

CiCi Coleman:

Firstly thank you! I think it was more intrigue at the start. I was working as a waitress in London, it was the end of my shift so I was pretty knackered, and my last table happened to be the First Dates production team scouting for hospitality staff to be on the show.

I interviewed with them the following day and then it went from there. I hadn’t seen the show and had no idea what they actually required of me, but whatever it was, it sounded like fun!

Namita Nayyar:

Share the best part of the job as an influencer? Biggest challenges you faced while building up as an influencer.

CiCi Coleman:

I’m not entirely sure I would call myself an influencer. I have an account with a lovely bunch of people who follow me for my work on First Dates and as of recent fitness too.

I always try to promote kindness and positivity, so I guess the best part of having an account with a large following is that I can share this with a mass audience.

Challenges I face are probably content ideas more than anything. I get really bored of taking selfies. I try to keep it real and maybe post less than others, but try to stay true to what’s going on in my life. Quality over quantity every time.

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises is an integral part of your home workout routine? 5 must-do mornings stretches?

CiCi Coleman:

I work out six days a week at the moment and its always Inferno Hot Pilates because that’s what I teach. It’s a full body workout so I feel like I’ve targeted all areas of the body and mind.

Once lockdown has passed, I will be incorporating Warm Vinyasa Flow back into my routine as I love the mind, body, soul connection that comes with this. Plus my teacher is amazing!

If I had a to pick five must-do morning stretches, I’d say I love a bit of downward dog, happy baby, Childs pose, knees to chest and straddle.

Namita Nayyar:

Beauty self-tested hacks that work great for you?

CiCi Coleman:
Namita Nayyar:

Your meal before and after a workout? Secret to a slim torso.

CiCi Coleman:

Haha there are no secrets to the way I look. I have a coffee in the morning and I have either a protein shake or breakfast after I work out.

I eat a lot throughout the day and I have a huge sweet tooth. I like to eat healthy but never want to worry about what I eat. Eat healthy and train hard!

Namita Nayyar:

Favorite meal of the day? What does it contain?

CiCi Coleman:

I LOVE breakfast. You name it, it goes in my bowl. I usually have porridge, chia seeds, coconut yoghurt, oat milk, banana, blueberries, a seed mix and sometimes Weetabix on top.

Namita Nayyar:

Top three healthy snack options? Food you prefer between working hours?

CiCi Coleman:
Namita Nayyar:

Define Women Fitness for WF viewers.

CiCi Coleman:

For me it’s a hub, where we can get up to date fitness advice, healthy food tips, and a way to connect with people.

Namita Nayyar:

Share your workout in a week now during lockdown?

CiCi Coleman:

I teach so it seems like a lot more than what it is. When you teach you aren’t always completing the full class as you are checking people on Zoom etc. My weeks schedule currently looks like this

6 x Pilates Class 45min-1 hour

2 x Ab class (30 mins)

2 x Stretch classes (40 mins)

Namita Nayyar:

How are you using this time productively?

CiCi Coleman:

I am non-stop working out lol. In-between this I am either planning classes, responding to the never ending admin of teaching, on the phone to my WIFI company (stress), and trying to catch up with friends over the phone. I’ve taken up a couple of self-love workshops and retrained in my Pilates teaching so that I have all my shit on point. I’m actually busier now than I was before lockdown.

Namita Nayyar:

You recently posted a before and after picture of you and talked about mental health and stress attached to weight loss. Share with us more about it? Five steps to handling stress and achieving optimum mental health.

CiCi Coleman:

This before and after picture was all about the mental side of how we look at ourselves. I grew up as a dancer so there was a constant pressure to look a certain way. I spent years not being happy about what I had, and then I got to an age where I just thought, I am who I am, and it is what it is. I always thought curves where a bad thing until I embraced them. Now I love them.

You can see from my Instagram that I’ve never really been one to post lots of body photos as it feels quite unnatural. In the world that we are in now, this has become very acceptable and the norm, whether we like it or not. I always ask my lovely students to take before and after pictures, and to make a mental note of how they feel too.

It’s such a good way to see how far you have come both physically and mentally. I felt like I was being a bit of a hypercritic because I wasn’t practicing what I was preaching, and I was moaning to friends that I’d put on 3kg. I then remembered I had taken a picture of me on holiday in Tenerife 4 months previous.

I’d booked this mini break on my own because I was feeling really low mentally. I took a picture of myself in my bikini because I knew I’d lost weight and I felt ‘nice’ in that moment. Hair done, make up on, tanned etc. Now when I look back at this, I remember how unhappy and how much pain I was in. So the ‘after’ picture is me comparing mentally how far I’ve come, it’s me taking my own advice, and it’s to share that the scales me, all because I’ve put on weight.

My 5 tips would be;

No 6. Work out with me 😉 We’re a super supportive team who have a lot of good energy to share x

Namita Nayyar:

Biggest fitness/weight loss myth that you faced & needs to be busted?

CiCi Coleman:

1) Ignore the scales

2) You have to only eat salad to loose fat

Namita Nayyar:

Athleisure brands that you love?

CiCi Coleman:

Gymshark leggings and Freya sports bras. If they did a combo they’d be the best sports brand out there.

Namita Nayyar:

Any advice you would like to give to your younger inner self?

CiCi Coleman:

Oooh I love this. hmm.. Everything is going to be okay. You are so much stronger than you think. Trust your gut coz its ALWAYS right

Namita Nayyar:

Resolutions or goals for 2020?

CiCi Coleman:

Same as last year, listen to my gut more because boy its powerful when you can tune into it.

Namita Nayyar:

Message for your 147K followers on Instagram?

CiCi Coleman:

Be kind, it’s free.

Smile, it’s the prettiest thing you can wear. Don’t judge a book by its cover. You never know what someone is really going through. Try your best not to worry what other people think. There seems to be such pressure to follow people and ‘like’ their pictures through fear that you will either be unfollowed if you don’t, or you will offend someone. The best thing I did at the end of 2019 was unfollow everyone I knew.

The only accounts I followed were French bulldog accounts (no joke), and my sister. When you’re in a shitty place, the last thing you need is to watch every other Tom, Dick and Harry having perceived fun! It’s not good for your mental state to wake up every morning and view that.

You need to look after number 1, and that is YOU! Your true friends will stay, even if you unfollow them, because they will understand why you have done it. Don’t fall into the Instagram trap. Follow what makes you happy, and makes you feel good inside. Other people’s Instagram perfect lives will not do this.
