Gemma Collins

Gemma Collins is a popular English reality television personality best known for being a cast member of the ITVBe semi-reality programme The Only Way Is Essex, joining the show in its second series in 2011. In 2016, she took part in Celebrity Big Brother 17 too. She is also well known for her public battle with weightloss, often speaking out about it in various media outlets and promoting a healthy lifestyle among young girls.

Namita Nayyar, President Women Fitness had the wonderful chance to interact with this inspirational woman. Let’s take you through the excerpts from our exclusive interview with Gemma Collins.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Your journey as a Reality TV Star began when you were cast as a member of the ITVBe semi-reality programme, ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ and since then we have seen your presence on many top reality shows. Share with us your journey in the field of the entertainment industry?

Ms. Gemma Collins:

The journey in the entertainment industry has been a massive eye opener. I have defiantly matured throughout the experience. It has given me a platform to do lots of good things for charities and it’s allowed me to create fabulousness for a lot of people and encourage people to be fabulous in their everyday lives.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Since the time you starred in the second series of TOWIE in 2011, your life has changed tremendously. Presently do share with our viewers your work routine?

Ms. Gemma Collins:

My life has changed tremendously, behind the scenes I am a very on it business women. My day to day life consists of 6am wake up, check my emails, try to get everything done and set up for the day before everyone else starts their day. So I don’t start my work like everyone else, I work either first thing in the morning or 10pm to 3am, I never really work during the day. Unless it’s filming, interviews or TV work but actual getting my hands dirty, ordering stock for the shop, pay roll, accountants meetings, paying my tax online is all done at random hours either first thing in the morning or last thing at night.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

With so many more reality shows coming up and the ones that are out there, which ones are your favorite?

Ms. Gemma Collins:

I am obviously a massive part in reality TV history, I really love all the Real Housewives, Orange County, Cheshire and housewives show. Love Island was a massive winner for me too, really loved it Made in Chelsea and obviously TOWIE.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have recently wowed your fans after showing off your incredible weight loss. Unfold the exercises that comprise your fitness regime on a daily basis?

Ms. Gemma Collins:

I’m not a big one for exercise I have to be honest. I tend to do exercise in the forest, I love long walks, last week for instance I didn’t use my car all week. I forced myself to walk to my boutique and walk home, I didn’t want to waste a fiver on a cab! It gets you going and ready for the day so for me I’m not one to jump round doing star jumps but I will always love to do walks.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

As indicated in Mirror magazine you have been on and off yo-yo diets including experimenting with a 28-day liquid only diet, ditching brandy for vodka over a month and then I’m a Celeb jungle’s limited food supply diet. On Instagram, you revealed weight loss of a stone in less than four weeks . What kind of diet are you following presently? What would be your advice to friends in order to stay healthy and physically fit? Enlist your 5 favorite breakfast picks?

Ms. Gemma Collins:

So the diet I am following at the moment is really eating healthily, Weetabix for breakfast. I am trying not to eat out in as many restaurants, I’m cooking and not eating so many sweets, chocolates and crisps. With being in and out of meetings during the day I try not to grab too many packet sandwiches.

A lot of my friends are mad about health and fitness so we are all getting to a point of realizing we are eating in too many restaurants and ordering too many Indian takeaways. So we have a new thing where we are all going round each other’s houses and cooking from scratch.

My favourite breakfast pick is Weetabix, my second one if I’m being a bit naughty is smoked salmon, Eggs Royal. I love the Hollandaise sauce! I also love a grill up, I think I have moved on from calling it a fry up! I have two slices of wholemeal toast with tinned tomatoes, I love porridge but have never been a muesli girl. I also like strawberry yoghurt and raspberries.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

With a glowing skin and beautiful hair – Share with us your skincare and hair care tips?

Ms. Gemma Collins:

I have been obsessed with face cream since I was about 13 years old, I really do spend a lot of money on face creams and I am always rubbing it in to my face. On a day that I haven’t got any makeup on I literally will reapply face cream four times a day and serum at night. I am a massive fan of Crème De La Mer. The last time I bought Crème De La Mer cream and serum it cost me nearly £700 however people pay that for botox so I see it as an investment.

I am always finding new ways to keep my skin nice and I am always drinking water.

I get a blow dry once a week and if I am doing housework in doors I will whack on a good conditioning mask and leave it on all day, sometimes I will sleep in it. Caster Oil also works well. It’s brilliant and makes you hair feel so thick.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

With an audience of over 803k followers on your Instagram account @gemmacollins1 you’re a social media sensation and an internet leading star. How does it feel that you are able to inspire and influence the healthy lifestyle of so many individuals?

Ms. Gemma Collins:

It is so overwhelming to be able to do this, reaching out to so many women out there who struggle with their weight or their skin might not be nice and they see a normal girl like me putting up a picture without makeup, I am happy for people to see me without makeup but if I am having a rough day I will say ‘I am having a rough day today ladies’ but I really like social media platforms as it allows me to let women know it’s okay not to look like a movie star 24/7 and beauty comes from within, it’s not about what you look like.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

With cut-throat competition in the entertainment industry, one has to work really hard to shine in the crowd. 5 Best tips for a newcomer entering Reality TV.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

With a great media hype, a lot of young girls and teens suffer from body shaming. What tips would you like to give to them, from your own experience, on becoming more body confident?

Ms. Gemma Collins:

I would say, look in the mirror everyday and tell yourself how lovely you are. Everyone has down days but it is about how you pick yourself back up. Dust yourself off and get back out there again. If there is something you are not happy about within yourself try and work on it but don’t put too much pressure on yourself to change it overnight, things take time. It is baby steps that lead to big changes.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You released your autobiography, Basically: My Real Life as an Essex Girl, in June 2013 and it became a bestseller in its first week of release. What would you like to say regarding the same? Also, how do you think girls and women were able to connect with your story?

Ms. Gemma Collins:

Basically, to have a best seller was amazing I was so shocked it went to best seller. I was pleased to share my life story with everyone and hopefully everyone can see I come from a very normal down to earth background.

I like the fact that all the girls out there can connect with my story, I was a normal girl from Romford with big dream and there are so many other women out there with big dreams and ideas on what they want to do- I would say to those people never give up. What you feel is what you will become so don’t ever give up.

I hope my fans connect with my second autobiography ‘The GC: How to Be a Diva’ just as much or more so, I am so excited about this project, the book is already available for pre-order!
