Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar catches up with Hannah Ann Sluss is an American television personality, model, and beauty pageant competitor to talk about the secret to success, diet, and exercise routine.

Namita Nayyar:

A healthy morning ritual that you follow every single day?

Hannah Ann Sluss:

A healthy morning ritual that I follow every single day is drinking celery juice on an empty stomach. I swear by it! It helps me with bloating and has really cleared up my skin. My favorite is Suja Organic celery juice- my fridge is stocked with it.

 Namita Nayyar:

You worked as a model and competed in beauty pageants before joining the cast of The Bachelor season 24. Then how did The Bachelor happen?

Hannah Ann Sluss:

I began my modelling career when I was 16 years old by entering a model search for Varsity, which is a company that designs cheer and dance uniforms. I didn’t want to tell my parents that I was applying for a model search, so I bribed my little sister, Haley, to take pictures of me. My sister and I had no idea what we were supposed to be doing so we took pictures in front of my garage door. Great spot right?

I submitted the photos we took and a month later my Mom got a phone call that I got the modelling job. I guess I should have given her a heads up… oops! Anyways, that’s where it all began and from there I entered pageants as a fun way to meet friends and be a part of something positive. I was the first runner up to Miss Tennessee Teen USA and first runner up to Miss Tennessee USA. I guess I couldn’t break the “runner up curse” but I really enjoyed the connections I made.

I applied for The Bachelor last summer because I had the biggest crush on Peter at the time. My friend Hannah Godwin was on Colton’s season and had a great experience so I wanted to give it a shot. It was definitely a leap of faith but I’m so glad I got the experience.

Namita Nayyar:

Exercises that are an integral part of your workout routine? Five must-do mornings stretches? Define what relaxation means to you.

Hannah Ann Sluss:

I absolutely love running! I’ve taken this time during quarantine to train for a half marathon. I also enjoy taking long walks with Bala ankle weights. I really like to integrate P.Volve into my workout routine because it’s low impact and perfect for sculpting. Five must-do morning stretches would be a downward dog, child’s pose, side oblique stretch, and single-leg stretch. Relaxation to me means getting to a place where I can enjoy freedom from stress and feel at peace with exactly where I am at that moment.

Namita Nayyar:

Introduce us to a day in your busy life? What’s like a day off routine?

Hannah Ann Sluss:

A busy day would consist of me starting my day off with a celery juice or a protein shake. If I need a boost of energy I’ll drink a Celsius energy drink to get going. Then I check my emails and text messages before starting my workout. Depending on the day, I will head to a photo shoot or work on creating content for the brands I am in partnership with. After work, I enjoy relaxing and cooking with my roommate Brooke. Lately we’ve been making Cauliflower crust pizza, spaghetti squash or tacos. Before going to bed, I like watching the sunset while reading a book on the rooftop of my apartment.

Namita Nayyar:

Your meal before and after a workout? The secret to a slim torso.

Hannah Ann Sluss:

Before my workout, I typically will eat something light. I’m currently obsessed with one of my new recipes called, “HA’s Healthy Cookie Dough.” After my workout, I like to make paleo waffles or a smoothie. I love sharing my health hacks on my Instagram!

Namita Nayyar:

Favourite Meal of the day according to you would be? What does it contain? Two must-take supplements.

Hannah Ann Sluss:

My favourite meal of the day would definitely be breakfast because I love fruit! Anyone that knows me well knows that I am obsessed with strawberries. It all started when I was little, and I would spend time in the summer in Dalton, Georgia picking strawberries out of my grandparent’s garden. My first birthday cake was strawberry shortcake so it’s always been my thing. Something’s never change!

My two must take supplements would be a good probiotic and a supplement to help with your gut. I know it might sound funny, but gut health is so important. Our gut supports our immunity and energy. I’ve been taking Gut Connection by Country Life Vitamins for a few months now and it has helped me with digestion, bloating, and clearing up my skin. I also like Global Healing’s Floratrex probiotic for gut health. Poppi is a newer drink that has apple cider vinegar which is also amazing for I find that these products really help me build my immune system which is extra important right now.

Namita Nayyar:

Top three healthy snack options? Two diet secrets you would like to share?

Hannah Ann Sluss:

The first healthy snack option would be rice cake and nut butter. I’m obsessed with Justin’s nut butter. There are so many flavours to choose from. My favourite is the maple almond butter. I like to add cinnamon and strawberries on top. The second option would be a little more of a guilty pleasure- Pop corners’ white cheddar is my biggest weakness. They are a delicious and healthier alternative to potato chips.

Two diet secrets I would share would be to listen to your body and eat when you are hungry. Starving yourself is never a good idea. I also think that drinking water is so important. I try to drink at least a gallon a day to stay hydrated and I find that it curbs my appetite and helps with my skin.

The second secret would be to eliminate processed foods. When I go to the grocery store I try to stay away from the middle isles and choose fresh produce, vegetables and meats. I try to avoid buying processed snacks and eat from the refrigerator as much as I can.

Namita Nayyar:

Define Women Fitness for WF viewers.

Hannah Ann Sluss:

Women’s Fitness magazine is a great go-to place for healthy workout and nutritional tips. It’s nice to have one place to go where all different bodies are accepted and celebrated.

Namita Nayyar:

Share your workout and day routine during a lockdown? Also, you are a talented painter who loves to dabble in interior decorating are you able to pursue the passion now?

Hannah Ann Sluss:

I’m very creative and have always found painting to be a way to express myself. Growing up, I struggled with dyslexia and found it hard to fit into the classroom norms of learning. At times, I felt held back by my disability but discovered how to use it to my advantage. I taught myself how to read through colour. I first started highlighting and colouring letters, to than words, to eventually sentences. I grew to be good at art because I had a strong desire to excel at something since I always felt discouraged in the classroom. Art is very special to me because it helped build my confidence and made me feel a part of something that made me feel proud. I hope to encourage other children who struggle with dyslexia to remind them that each of us is blessed with our own unique gifts.

Namita Nayyar:

Three must-haves that you look for in a relationship?

Hannah Ann Sluss:

1. Confidence – there is nothing more attractive than a person who knows themselves and what they want/need to be happy.

2. Kindness – some who can slow down, notice their surroundings, and to care for their needs.

3. Honesty– a big value of mine is honesty and transparency and I’ve noticed that the lack of can really can destroy a relationship.

Namita Nayyar:

You have openly spoken about trust being a major part of a relationship. What would be your advice to girls from your own experiences?

Hannah Ann Sluss:

There is something to be learned from every relationship and I think you can either become resentful or choose to be better because of it. For me, having my trust broken was really emotionally draining but it showed me what I want to look for in my next relationship. My advice is, to be honest with what you are looking for in a person, and don’t settle for anything less. Always be able to recognize what you are getting versus what you truly deserve.

Namita Nayyar:

Social media is instrumental in today’s era. One thing you love and hate about it?

Hannah Ann Sluss:

I love how connected you can be with the click of a button. I am always inspired to try new things, whether that is a workout, recipe, coffee shop, etc. The downside of social media is that it can take you away from being present if you’re not careful about taking breaks and being in the moment.

Namita Nayyar:

Athleisure brands that you love?

Hannah Ann Sluss:

There are so many great athleisure brands! I really like Alo because they have comfortable loungewear, but also great workout clothes. I’ve also been hooked on Aerie for years. They always continue to have the cutest matching sets.

Namita Nayyar:

Resolutions for 2020?

Hannah Ann Sluss:

Resolutions are silly to me, but I am always aiming to better myself and choose to do so with mini-goals.

 Namita Nayyar:

Message for your 1.4 Million followers on Instagram?

Hannah Ann Sluss:

The best compliment you have received on a post? Good question! I feel like some of the best compliments I have ever received would be from women saying they want to be my friend. I don’t ever think that a person is given success for their own ego. It’s about using my influence to do good and knowing that people see me as a person that they could have fun with, but also count on is really touching.
