Text4baby Russia Celebrates its one-year anniversary

– Reported, 19 March 2013

Text4baby Russia, a maternal and child health text-messaging service run by the Health and Development Foundation, celebrates its one-year anniversary on February 20.

The program, SMSmame in Russian, provides new and expectant moms with information on caring for their health and the health of their children through free text messages to their mobile phones. Text message topics include nutrition, exercise and work during pregnancy, breastfeeding, legal rights, developmental milestones, and more.

This initiative is based on the successful U.S. program text4baby, but was adapted by HDF and its government and medical community partners to ensure that the messages met the specific cultural and socio-economic needs of its Russian target audience.

SMSmame is also launching a series of regular webinars on program topics this week. These interactive webinars will be led by physicians who will provide greater detail on some of the information subscribers receive through SMS. This week’s webinar will focus on newborn care.

Visit the foundation’s website http://www.fzr-eng.ru , or the program website (in Russian) http://www.smsmame.ru  to learn more.
