Perrine Laffont is a French mogul skier, she is the present world number one in women moguls skiing. The 2017 Dual Moguls world champion and moguls silver medalist. She won the gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in the moguls event. Originally from Ariège, she went on skis for the first time at the age of two. With a father who was a ski instructor and a mother who was president of the Boss Club des Monts d’Olmes. At 5 years old, she took her first bumps and took a liking to it. And a year later, she took part in her first competition in the Pyrenees in slopestyle and mogul skiing. Her childhood dream was to become a ski instructor. So I signed up for alpine skiing study sport. But later returned to her favorite discipline quickly.

It was in 2014 that her Olympic dream began, at the Sochi Olympic Games, at the age of 15. She was the youngest representative of the French delegation. Her 5th place in qualifying gives gave her direct access to the final. She finished 14th in the Final, a good performance for that age. At 16, she became the first French world champion in parallel mogul skiing. And a year later, she went even further into the history of the sport by becoming Olympic champion in mogul skiing.

Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar catches up with Perrine Laffont, a French Freestyle Skier, an Olympic Games Gold medalist, three times World Champion here she talks about her workout, diet, hair care, skincare routine and her success story.

Namita Nayyar:

Your father, Jean-Jacques, introduced moguls skiing in France to the Pyrenees region, setting up the “Boss Club” (“bosses” means “moguls” in French) with your mother. Your love for moguls skiing must have started early in life. Tell us more about your journey of exceptional hard work, tenacity, and endurance?

Perrine Laffont:

Mogul skiing has always been a big part of my family. I was born with skis on my feet I like to say. I used to ski with a dummy in my mouth! My parents educated me with great values of hard work and enjoyment whilst pursuing my passion.

Namita Nayyar:

You at the age of fifteen years competed in your first Winter Games in Sochi in 2014. Tell us how you were drawn to this sport of moguls skiing and your meteoric rise to be a member of the French National Skiing team?

Perrine Laffont:

During the spring of 2013, the French Team coaches informed us that maybe a girl will be able to go to the Olympic Games, so after hearing this exciting news I trained very hard for the next 7 months. I asked my parents to transform the attic into a fully equipped gym and every day I was up there training. My parents bought me a running machine, I use to run on it for hours but seeing the clock tick slowly would drive me crazy so instead I printed a photo of the Sochi Mogul stadium to cover it and used this for motivation! 4 months later I was at the top of this same course reaching my dream of becoming an Olympian.

Namita Nayyar:

You became an Olympic champion at the age of 19 years, at Pyeong Chang 2018. Tell us more about your experience of this exceptional achievement in the world of Skiing?

Perrine Laffont:

That was my dream as a little girl. For an athlete to win the Olympics Games is the pinnacle of sporting achievements so when I became Olympic Champion in 2018 it was crazy, unbelievable but so hard too. Dealing with the pressure during the 8 days that we stayed there was hard and I was so exhausted after the Games. But this medal completely changed my life and I’ll never forget it.

Namita Nayyar:

Today you are the world number one in women moguls skiing. You won World Championships Gold medal at 2017 Sierra Nevada, 2019 Utah and 2021 Almaty in Dual Moguls and Moguls respectively, what has been a catalyst to these exceptional achievements in your professional career?

Perrine Laffont:

I have a stable environment around me, a great support system with my coaches and family. I manage to push hard in training because I have a great balance in life. When at training camp all I have on my mind is skiing, and then after when at home I tend to rest from skiing and pursue my other interests (fashion, interior design) and just having fun with friends and family.
