September 9, 2016 By Namita Nayyar (WF Team)

BIOLOGICAL CLOCK

Aging is an inevitable process. Every living thing on the earth that has experienced growth has to age with passage of time. Its true advances in science has not yet been able to discover ways to control the signs of aging, but there are certain lifestyle modifications which can help you in the process of delaying the biological clock. Forty years of research has shown that when a nourishing diet is eaten sparingly, aging can be retarded and you can add years of vitality to your life. This strategy makes absolute biological sense because most people who overeat are actually under nourished.

Eat up to 3/4th of your capacity

When you eat less. you produce fewer free radicals) cell-damaging oxygen molecules) which are known to be the prime players in accelerating the aging process. Excess calories (in other words, overeating) are the enemies of youth.

Balance your appetite

In case of excessive appetite ( a sign of excess heat) in the body, balance your appetite by consuming raw, cooling vegetables like cucumber, celery, cabbage, radish, lettuce, tomatoes and fruits like watermelon, apple, banana, oranges, grapefruits, pears etc.

Drink a lot of (10-12 glasses) of tepid water, watery soups and vegetable broths.

Water plays many roles in keeping you healthy. It helps to digest food so you can absorb the nutrients you need. It gives you an important source of minerals like magnesium and calcium. Water moistens mucous membranes and lubricates the joints and cools the body through perspiration.

Neither under nor overweight is desirable. Achieving ideal body weight does provide the basis for attaining good health. After making sure your doctor approves, indulge in physical activity to get your heart rate up by walking, biking, or swimming for at least 30 -60 minutes a day. Choose some activity you like – it will make exercise more enjoyable. If you exercise daily or almost daily, you will become fit within a few short months. Remember, you are never too old to take up exercise.

Eat high fibre foods

Eat high fibre foods like dark, green, leafy vegetables, fruits, whole grains like jowar, bajra, naachini, brown rice, whole wheat; pulses like rajma, channa, moth sprouted moong beans, chowli beans, nuts and seeds.
