Lentil Croquettes

Instructions :   

  • Soak the lentils and white peas for eight hours. Pressure cook till tender. Drain thoroughly. Cool and blend to a smooth paste ensuring there is no excess water. Add all the other ingredients and form a dough-like mixture.

  • Lightly grease your hands and take a little dough and flatten it to form a disc. Place a little filling in the centre, cover it completely with the dough and deep fry in hot oil till crisp and golden. Repeat with the rest of the dough and filling. Serve hot.

Ingredients :

  • Lentils (Masoor dal) 1/2 cup

  • Dry white peas 1/2 cup

  • Salt to taste 

  • Thyme (ajwain) 1 tsp

  • Cornflour 4 tsp (or as required)

  • Garam masala powder  1 tsp
  • Cottage cheese, mashed  100 g

     

  • Green chilli-ginger paste  1 tsp

For the filling:

  • 1 onion, chopped 2 tbsp curd, hung to drain out all the excess water, 3 green chillies, chopped 2.5 cm ginger, finely chopped, 4 flakes garlic chopped, 2 tbsp coriander leaves chopped, 1 tsp lemon juice, salt 2 tbsp, chopped capsicum

  • Mix all the filling ingredients together, and set aside.
