Spiced Steamed Idlis

Nutritional Information:   

  • Calories- 229 Kcal

Instructions :    

  • Soak the rice and urad dal separately.

  • Grind the rice to a coarse thrick paste with water, and the urad dal to a very fine, smooth, butter like consistency. Mix the two together, add salt, mix again; and keep overnight for fermentation.

  • The next day, sprinkle the chilli flakes, pepper and oregano onto greased idli tray moulds and pour the idli batter over it.

  • Place the rack in a steamer and steam for five to ten minutes or till done.

  • Parboiled rice - 150 gms; 

  • Urad Dal (black gram dal) - 50 gms; 

  • Salt to taste; 

  • Crushed peppercorns - a few; 

  • oregano and chilli flakes- as per taste; 

  • water to make the dough.
