14 Superfoods That Keep Your Body and Mind Strong

July 28, 2018 By Alex Gendron

What can be better than food? Superfoods, of course. Superfoods are, in plain definition, best for your health. These types of food have excellent properties in maintaining your immune system, making you healthier than ever. It also has compounds that can heal ailments, wounds and inflammation that may be caused by bacteria or viruses.

Basically, superfoods make one healthier and more physically fit, so it is the ideal and best choice for eating. Here are 14 superfoods that can keep your body and mind strong.

  1. Avocados

Avocadoes are known to be sweet and cool on the mouth when eaten. It can be made as a smoothie as well. Avocadoes are best for keeping brain health in check and ensuring that you have a healthy blood flow. In addition, avocadoes can decrease or even prevent heart and cognitive problems.

  1. Coffee

Here’s some good news for all the coffee-lovers out there. Coffee is one of the superfoods that you can add – or continue to – take every day, although with moderation. Coffee contains antioxidants that can help cleanse your body from toxins. Coffee is seen to have positive effects in cognitive functions.

  1. Beans

Beans are superfoods that have plenty of super positive health benefits. For starters, beans are an excellent source of fiber and iron. Beans are proven to be effective food for weight loss, because of the low calorie content. Apart from all these, beans can lower risks of developing cancer, heart diseases and high cholesterol problems.

  1. Nuts

Nuts are a healthy snack choice, a good superfood to munch on when you are sometimes just passing time. Nuts are known to be rich in omega-3, a fatty acid that is good for the heart and lowers risks of cognitive diseases. Nuts are also known to decrease risks of diabetes, cancer and stroke.

  1. Berries

Berries are sweet, delicious and juicy, an excellent addition to your salad or to plainly just munch on. Berries are packed with antioxidants and fiber that are both effective and excellent ingredients for body cleansing. A well-cleaned body inside will reflect on the outside and on your overall health.

  1. Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits such as oranges, lemon, limes, pomelo and grapefruit are the best sources for vitamin C, known to decrease symptoms of cold and flu during the wet season. However, the benefits of citrus fruits do not end there. They are rich in fiber, good for the heart, have low glycemic index, packed with potassium and they can help your body absorb the nutrients from other food you eat.

  1. Whole grains

Whole grains such as rice, oatmeal, whole-wheat bread and pasta are easier to weave in to your superfood diet because most of these are already staple foods. It’s good to know just how much of a superfood they can be. Whole grains are an excellent source of nutrients such as vitamins B complex, protein, fiber, antioxidants, and minerals such as iron and zinc.

  1. Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes may seem like an ordinary snack but it is actually a rich source of vitamin A. Sweet potatoes can help boost the immune system, and keep the bones and eyes healthy.

  1. Fish

Fish have always been known to be low in calorie content, which makes them preferable compared to red-meat. Many oil-variety fish such as sardines and salmon are rich in omega-3 properties that are essential attributes for cognitive and brain health.

  1. Broccoli

We’ve all heard that broccoli is good for the health, but just how good is it? Good enough to be a superfood, because broccoli is an excellent source of vitamin A, C and calcium, making it a bone-friendly food. It also reduces risk of cancer development.

  1. Tomatoes

Tomatoes are well-known to be effective and excellent for skin health, because it helps protect the skin from harmful UV rays. This is why, aside from eating this juicy type of fruit, you can also see many skin health products containing this ingredient.

  1. Greek yogurt

Yogurt is known to be stomach and intestine friendly. It reduces and prevents problems in the stomach because of a good bacteria content. Yogurt is also rich in calcium.
