Alice Connors: From the Runway to Royal Battalion Training – A Story of Strength and Resilience

August 3, 2026 By Namita Nayyar (Editor in chief)

Namita Nayyar:

The magazine often focuses on holistic health. How do you mentally decompress after a stressful day in the boardroom or a grueling physical session?

Alice Connors:

If I’ve had a long day and want to de-stress, I keep my recovery routine simple.

I like doing gentle exercises at home because they’re quick, simple, and effective. They can help improve posture, relieve muscle tension, and help my body relax. There are plenty of easy online tutorials with exercises for different needs and fitness levels. Or even towel exercises, simple fun and they help you feel much more relaxed.

If I’m feeling stressed before bed, I listen to calming music to help quiet my mind, relax, and improve my sleep. There are many sleep songs available online to target stress relief.

These simple habits help me unwind, recover, and feel refreshed for the next day.

Some stress relieving techniques
Daily movement – Exercise your body every day.
Quality sleep – Aim for 7–9 hours each night.
Balanced nutrition – Eat a variety of whole, nutrient-rich foods.
Stress management – Practice mindfulness, breathing exercises, or other relaxation techniques

Namita Nayyar:

Your fitness levels are exceptional. Can you walk us through a typical day of eating? Do you follow a specific dietary protocol (e.g., high-protein, keto, plant-based) to support your energy needs?

Alice Connors:

I like having a clean diet
Eating good meats and vegetables and fruit
Rather than fast foods or unhealthy foods.

Nutrition is equally important to me. I aim to follow a clean, balanced diet by choosing wholesome, nutrient-rich foods that fuel my body and support my fitness goals. I also try to avoid processed snacks such as sweets and crisps, opting for healthier alternatives like fresh fruit whenever possible.

Whenever my body feels particularly fatigued after intense training or a busy day, I use electrolytes to help restore hydration and support my body’s natural recovery. They help maintain fluid balance, support normal muscle function, and keep my body performing at its best, especially after exercise.

I also pay close attention to how my food is prepared. I avoid eating heavily overcooked or burnt foods, wherever I am even when dining out, as excessive charring can reduce nutritional quality and produce compounds that are best limited as part of a healthy lifestyle. Whenever possible, I choose foods that are cooked thoroughly without being overdone.

It’s the little details I do pay attention to.

Staying well hydrated is another key part of my routine. Drinking enough water supports overall health, helps maintain healthy skin, and enables my body to perform and recover effectively. I believe that consistent training, a balanced diet, proper hydration, and listening to your body’s needs are the foundation of long-term health and fitness.

Namita Nayyar:

With the stress of recording sessions, the sun on modeling shoots and the sweat of military training, your skin and hair must face a lot. What is your non-negotiable product or ritual for maintaining your glow?

Alice Connors:

Recently, I’ve been using a deeply moisturizing facial mist, which has become a great addition to my skincare routine. It provides an instant boost of hydration, leaving my skin feeling refreshed and revitalised throughout the day.

If I’m attending events or simply want a quick refresh before heading out, I like to use a Vitamin E facial spray. It helps hydrate my skin and gives it a healthy, radiant glow.

I also enjoy incorporating facial oils into my routine to nourish and lock in moisture. Alongside this, I use a facial roller to gently massage my skin, which helps reduce puffiness and leaves my complexion feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

I’ve also been taking collagen gummies as part of my daily wellness routine. Collagen supplements may help support skin and prevents aging

A simple addition to complement a balanced lifestyle and overall skincare routine.

For me, healthy skin comes from a combination of good nutrition, staying hydrated, regular exercise, quality sleep, and maintaining a consistent skincare routine.

Namita Nayyar:

What does your weekly workout schedule look like to maintain the balance between a “red carpet” physique and “military” functional strength?

Alice Connors:

I usually train every day, but I always make time for two rest days each week. Rest days are just as important as training because they allow your muscles time to repair, rebuild, and become stronger.

Taking regular rest days can also help reduce the risk of injury, prevent unnecessary muscle soreness, and ensure your body is ready to perform at its best. Rest isn’t a break from progress—it’s an essential part of achieving it.

My training routine focuses on a combination of strength, endurance, and core work. I regularly use the StairMaster to improve cardiovascular fitness and endurance, alongside exercises such as leg presses, squats, pull-ups, and abs bar exercises to strengthen my core and build overall body strength.

Namita Nayyar:

You have been focusing heavily on endurance running for the Royal Battalion training. What is your relationship with running? Do you listen to music or podcasts, or do you prefer the silence to think?

Alice Connors:

My relationship with running has grown stronger over time. The more I dedicate myself to improving my cardiovascular fitness, the greater my endurance becomes. Every workout builds both my physical strength and my resilience, allowing me to push further than before.

My training environment is enhanced by advanced fitness technology at my gym. While exercising, I can immerse myself in virtual scenic displays—such as running along a beautiful beach—which are streamed directly to the fitness machines. Combined with my own music, this creates an engaging and motivating atmosphere that keeps me focused, energized, and committed to achieving my fitness goals.

I enjoy listening to motivational videos because I find them uplifting and beneficial for improving my mood. They help me stay positive, focused, and motivated, both during my workouts and in everyday life.

Namita Nayyar:

This year, you have been training with the Royal Battalion as a female soldier for the King’s Guards. What initially drove you to take on this grueling challenge, stepping so far outside of the entertainment industry?

Alice Connors:

My decision to undertake this challenge was driven by resilience, discipline, and a strong sense of purpose.

Throughout my life, I have learned that true strength is not only physical but also mental and emotional. Perseverance has shaped who I am, given me a deep appreciation for life, and inspired me to dedicate myself to helping and protecting others—something that has always been at the heart of everything I do.
Training with the Royal Battalion as a female soldier for the King’s Guards felt like a natural extension of those values. It gave me the opportunity to step beyond the entertainment industry and immerse myself in an environment built on service, discipline, courage, and honour.

During my training, I learned Morse code, developed valuable new skills through educational sessions on intelligence-related subjects, and gained a greater appreciation for the professionalism and responsibility required of those who serve.

Life at the barracks was unlike anything I had experienced before. The standards were exceptionally high, with absolute precision expected during ceremonial drill and training. There was no room for error, yet what stood out just as much was the culture of respect, integrity, and teamwork that existed throughout the battalion.

I was given the opportunity to see the ceremonial side of military life, including trying on the iconic bearskin cap and seeing the famous scarlet ceremonial tunic worn on parade, while our day-to-day training was carried out in standard Army uniform. Watching the soldiers rehearse their ceremonial marching demonstrated the extraordinary discipline and dedication required to perform at such an elite level.

One of the moments I will always remember was meeting one of the battalion’s military working dogs. The dog’s intelligence, focus, and discipline reflected the same exceptional standards expected of every soldier. It was a remarkable experience to witness firsthand.

The facilities at the barracks were equally impressive. We had access to the gym to maintain our fitness outside of military training, and I was able to learn more about the equipment, training environment, and the responsibilities that come with military service, including the use of the shooting range under the appropriate supervision.

What made the experience even more extraordinary was the contrast with my career in the public eye. I vividly remember leaving the barracks after training and travelling directly to a formal event that same evening, changing from Army uniform into heels and evening wear. Moving between two completely different worlds in a single day was surreal, yet it reminded me that strength, discipline, and professionalism transcend any one profession.

During my time as Miss Europe United Kingdom, while representing my country in Italy, I was honoured to receive a letter from His Majesty the King in recognition of my work supporting hospitals. It remains one of the proudest moments of my life because it reflected what has always mattered most to me—serving others and making a meaningful difference in their lives.

Training with the Royal Battalion has been one of the greatest honors of my life. It strengthened my respect for those who dedicate themselves to protecting our country and reinforced the values that continue to guide me every day: service, resilience, integrity, and commitment to others.
