Cocktails That Won’t Pack on the Pounds

November 20, 2021 By Namita Nayyar (Editor in chief)

If you are hosting a party, want to make some drinks, but don’t want them to pack on the pounds, then this blog post is for you. We will go over what cocktails have low calories, as well as how much alcohol they contain. You can use these tips when planning your next party.

Change the Way You Eat

Virgin Mojito

A virgin mojito is made with club soda instead of rum which will keep your weight at bay. Add fresh lime juice, sugar syrup, mint leaves, and ice cubes for this refreshing cocktail. The best part? It only contains around 110 calories per glass.

Skinny Sangria

If you deal with wine cocktail recipes, you can try out the Skinny Sangria, which contains just 100 calories per glass. It is made up of red wine, club soda, sliced fruit (i.e., strawberries and oranges), fresh mint leaves, sugar-free lemonade mix, or sparkling water instead of brandy, triple sec, or Cointreau.

Virgin Pina Colada

A virgin pina colada tastes similar to its alcoholic counterpart but has only 140 calories when compared to the regular drink’s 250 calories for a 12-ounce glass. To make this tasty cocktail, you will need pineapple juice, half cup crushed ice cubes, and a blender. Blend ingredients together until smooth. Add more crushed ice if necessary. Pour into tall glasses. Top with light cream if desired.

Pomegranate Prosecco

The pomegranate prosecco is a bubbly, refreshing drink that will help you stay slim and trim. You can enjoy it at any party or even as an after-dinner beverage to break up the night. This cocktail only contains around 100 calories per glass.

It is made with fresh orange juice, champagne glasses/cups. Pour half a cup of freshly squeezed orange juice into each cup. Top with two tablespoons of chilled champagne or sparkling wine (champagne flutes work well). If desired, add one tablespoon of sugar syrup for extra sweetness and flavor. Stir gently, then serve immediately while still fizzy and cold.

Cranberry Fizz

The cranberry fizz is another bubbly drink that’s packed with flavor. Similar to the pomegranate prosecco, this cocktail contains 100 calories per glass and is made by mixing one ounce of fresh lemon juice, two ounces of plain or vanilla low-fat yogurt; four ounces of chilled club soda or sparkling water; six ice cubes in a blender then blend on high speed until smooth. Pour into tall glasses (12 oz), garnish if desired. Use a slice of lime for extra tanginess.

Cake in a Glass

The cake in a glass is fun to make and great for kids, but you can also enjoy it during your next cocktail party. It contains no alcohol, so it will not pack on the pounds. This festive drink only has 75 calories per serving. To make this tasty treat combine one cup of light lemon-flavored carbonated beverage (such as Sprite), three tablespoons of white grape juice concentrate; pour over ice cubes into tall glasses or cups evenly spooning out any extra undissolved sugar from the grape juice concentrate bottle using the back of a spoon. Garnish with fresh raspberries or sliced strawberries if desired before serving immediately cold while fizzy and bubbly.

Chocolate Mint Breeze

This creamy chocolate mint breeze tastes like a mint chocolate chip milkshake. It is a great drink for adults and kids alike. You can make this tasty beverage by combining one cup of light lemon-flavored carbonated beverage, three tablespoons of white grape juice concentrate. Pour over ice cubes into tall glasses, evenly spooning out any extra undissolved sugar from the grape juice concentrate bottle using the back of a spoon. Add two teaspoons of peppermint extract to the mixture stirring gently with a long-handled iced tea or straw before serving immediately while cold and fizzy.

Virgin Bloody Mary

This virgin bloody mary recipe tastes just like its alcoholic rival but has only 75 calories per glass when compared to regular vodka, which contains 200 calories per shot (one ounce). Combine eight ounces tomato juice, one-ounce lemon juice, teaspoon celery salt (or table salt), dash black pepper; mix together well and pour over ice cubes into tall glasses. If desired, add two ounces vodka or spiced rum to the mixture before serving immediately cold while fizzy and bubbly.

Summing up, you can see that there are many cocktails out there to enjoy where the calories aren’t too high and, in some cases, barely existent. The best part is these drinks taste amazing. These recipes are easy to make and can be enjoyed at any time.
