Ingredients
- 1-1/8 cups Onion
- 1-1/2 medium Garlic clove minced, 1 medium
- 3 cups Cabbage, 1 cup
- 2-1/4 Tablespoons Vegetable oil
- 1-1/2 Tablespoons all purpose flour
- 3 medium Tomato raw 1 medium
- 3/4 medium Water
- 1-1/2 Tablespoon Lemon juice
- 1-1/2 Tablespoon Sugar
- 1-1/2 teaspoons Caraway seed
Instructions
- Chop the cabbage and peel seed and dice the tomatoes (you should have about 4 cups tomatoes). In a kettle cook the onion, garlic, and cabbage in the oil over moderately low heat, stirring, until the onion is softened, add the flour, and cook the mixture, stirring, for 3 minutes. Add the tomatoes, water, lemon juice, sugar, caraway seeds, and salt and pepper to taste, bring the mixture to a boil, and simmer the soup covered, adding more water if it becomes too thick, for 1 hour, or until the cabbage is tender.
