Mommy Blogger Sia Cooper Answers The Most Asked Mommy Questions

NN:

How can we inculcate healthy eating habits in our children, from the start?

SC:

Easy. Monkey see, Monkey do. If they see mom and dad eating broccoli, they are more likely to want broccoli. If they see mom and dad drinking a soda, they will probably want a soda, too! The best thing that you can do is walk the talk and physically show them good eating habits.

NN:

How were you able to accept the changes that your body went through when you were pregnant?

SC:

I was so in love with the tiny life growing inside of me that it was easy to accept! I did have my worries: weight gain, stretch marks, etc. As someone who struggled with body image for most of her life, I tried my best to focus on the health of my baby. That meant working out almost daily and eating only the best, nutritious foods.

NN:

How can one deal with postpartum depression?

SC:

I suffer from depression in general so after I had baby, it felt ten times worse. The best thing I did was talk to my doctor. I also believe getting out each day in the sunlight helped. New moms tend to be cooped up inside of their homes to tend to their newborn 24/7. You often wind up neglecting your own needs. I personally got on medication to help with my PPD and I feel so much better!

NN:

Best parenting advice you can give to a new mother.

SC:

You are allowed to be an imperfect parent. In this world, we feel so pressured to be a good mom and the mom guilt is REAL. Trust your intuition and your choices.
