Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Your father Jamie was a top regional rider from the Midwest
and introduced you to racing right before your 5th birthday. You won your first
world title in Netherlands at 9 years of age.Tell us about your earlier
childhood love for sports and how you made career in BMX cycle racing?
Ms. Felicia Stancil: Sports has been a huge part of my entire life. When I was
young I was doing so much that at one moment I was doing around 5 sports at one
time. I've competed in Volleyball, Basketball, Track, Floor, Hockey, softball,
and BMX. I loved all of these sports, but my true passion was for BMX. When I
was 16 I decided to quit all of the other sports and put all my effort into BMX.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You were ignited and made competitive BMX cycle racing as
your career and reached the pinnacle of success by winning 14-time World
Championship and Jr. Women World Championship.Tell us about your journey that
took you to where you are now in the world of competitive BMX cycle racing and
what factors you consider were responsible that made you achieve that?
Ms. Felicia Stancil: World Championship were always during the summer. I've
always enjoyed school growing up, so during the summers I would get really
bored. I always love to be productive, so during the summers I put all my energy
into racing my bike. A lot of summers went by and it's crazy, but it eventually
added up to 14.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: How could you overcome the element of fear in BMX cycle
racing as a sport?
Ms. Felicia Stancil: From racing BMX for so many years, it somewhat is natural.
I would be terrified to some other sports, but I feel challenged in a
comfortable way with BMX.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout
routine you shall like to share?
Ms. Felicia Stancil: BMX racing is a sprinting sport, so I do go to the gym. I
also do flat sprints on a road and spend a lot of hours on the BMX track
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you
follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Felicia Stancil: I try to eat as healthy as I can, but I will always enjoy
desert. Nothing super strict. Main goal is to get the days worth of nutrients
without under-eating or over-eating.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have glowing skin and gorgeous
hair. Do you take some
kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to
your hair to make them look so stunning?
Ms. Felicia Stancil: Wow thank you! I don't do anything special. It might just
be from working out and eating healthy.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding
competitive BMX cycle racing girls who all are your fans, they shall like to
know from you, what they should do for their climb to ladder of success in field
of competitive professional BMX cycle racing?
Ms. Felicia Stancil: Have fun, don't quit, and set goals! Those are the basic
things for any achievements and relates to BMX very much.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You stood first in 2012 Junior Women's Time-trial and Race
World Championship.Tell us about the experience about this memorable race ?
Ms. Felicia Stancil: This was my first non- amateur World Championship, so it
was completely different racing. The race was in England. I was the youngest
age, so I had no idea what to expect. I ended the weekend with both wins and
couldn't have been more proud.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have won 2012 Junior Women's Time-trial and Race World
Champion, 10-time UCI Challenge World Champion, six USA National
Championships,10-time ABA National Age Group Champion, a nine-time NBL National
Champion and 2008 ABA Overall National No. 1 Girls Cruiser and many other BMX
championships. How these wins bestow upon you the additional responsibilities
towards the sports of BMX cycle racing?
Ms. Felicia Stancil: I don't think it has added more responsibilities. I just
like to be myself, have fun with racing, and set the best example I can for all
of the young racers.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Who has been your greatest influencer and motivator in your
success in the field of your career in competitive BMX Cycle racing ?
Ms. Felicia Stancil:
I always idolized Kim Hayashi when I was young. Around the
age 12 something changed and I started to become very self-motivated.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: With exceptional hard work you are credited with all your
achievements. Do you believe that does the hand of Providence (Supreme Being)
played a role in your success?
