5 Personal Hygiene Tips to Clean Your Butt

February 1, 2021 By Namita Nayyar (Editor in chief)

Cleaning your butt is not an innate skill we are born with. It is something everybody learns. However, not every woman knows the right way to clean their butt. Unfortunately, failure to clean your butt properly may leave fecal matter around your anus, which can potentially endanger your health and comfort. In this post, we will be discussing some personal hygiene tips that women can use to ensure they’re cleaning themselves properly.

Don’t Wipe Too Hard or Too Fast

While you need to be firm to ensure you’re cleaning efficiently, there is a limit to what wiping can accomplish. This is because the area around the tailbone is one of the most sensitive on your body. As a result, wiping it too hard or too fast will irritate the area. Eventually, this irritation will manifest as hemorrhoids or anal abscesses, causing leakage, bleeding, or itching.

Wipe From Front to Back

A crucial personal hygiene tip for women is to wipe from the front to the back. However, avoid the skin around the perianal area when you are wiping. The perianal area is the skin around the anus, and wiping it can result in microtears, from which bacteria can enter through to wreak havoc on your health.

Why wipe from front to back? The reason is that wiping your butt otherwise can result in fecal matter being deposited in your urethral area, resulting in urinary tract infections.

Use Flushable Wipes

Diarrhea can cause soreness and inflammation; this can result in sensitivity when it comes to wiping. Flushable wipes are gentle on the skin and are amazing for cleaning. In addition, flushable wipes offer increased comfort and better cleaning than conventional toilet paper.

Don’t Stand to Wipe

If you have the habit of standing up to wipe your butt, it may be time to stop doing this. Standing up to wipe may be detrimental to your health. When you wipe while standing, your cheeks will be pressed together, and you will have limited access to the space in between. This means you will not be able to do a good job of cleaning. As we mentioned earlier, not cleaning your butt properly can cause discomfort and other health issues.

Never Leave Moisture Behind

Excess moisture between your butt can lead to many problems, from bacterial and fungal infections to dermatitis and rashes. After cleaning, or when you take a shower, endeavor to completely dry this area.

Wipe Properly

Lastly, take time to wipe properly after using the toilet. Failure to do so can lead to discomfort or odor. Moreover, you may be leaving residue behind if you don’t wipe properly, which can cause irritation and mild itching.

Endnote

As a lady, cleaning your butt properly after using the toilet is essential. Improper cleaning is associated with several problems, including odor, itching, discomfort, and UTIs. While there are no hard rules for cleaning like a woman, the tips above will help you do a better job. Employ these tips to safeguard your health.
