Ingredients
- Parboiled rice - 150 gms
- Urad Dal (black gram dal) - 50 gms
- Salt to taste
- Crushed peppercorns - a few
- oregano and chilli flakes- as per taste
- water to make the dough.
Instructions
- Soak the rice and urad dal separately.
- Grind the rice to a coarse thrick paste with water, and the urad dal to a very fine, smooth, butter like consistency. Mix the two together, add salt, mix again; and keep overnight for fermentation.
- The next day, sprinkle the chilli flakes, pepper and oregano onto greased idli tray moulds and pour the idli batter over it.
- Place the rack in a steamer and steam for five to ten minutes or till done.
