Tanna Frederick: a passionate savior
Ms. Tanna Frederick Hollywood
actress, along with
famed surfer Shaun Tomson, has founded
"Project Save Our Surf," an annual event
which raises tens of thousands of
dollars for oceanic conservation. She is
an avid swimmer, runner and
surfer.
Born in the Mason City of Iowa on 11 Aug
1979 and raised by her parents to
appreciate everything. According to
Tanna, her parents taught her "... not
to be afraid of things, even frightening
things nature creates, but to be
mystified and feel privileged by all of
the universe’s quirks that we get to be
a part of. They taught me to take charge
and if something isn’t right, do
something about it. Don’t wait around
for others to do it for you. I started
becoming environmentally and politically
active as a kid because they never
diminished my interest or potential at
any age to alter the world around me and
to become a better individual."
Best known for her acclaimed
screen collaborations with the offbeat
and idiosyncratic American director
Henry Jaglom, Tanna Frederick originally
trained as a child actress at the
Stebens' Children's Theatre in her
native Iowa, and during her collegiate
years studied at the University of Iowa
as a theater arts and poly-sci major.
Following a supporting role in Helen
Lesnick's erotic lesbian drama
Inescapable (2003), Frederick teamed up
with Jaglom for a series of efforts,
including (most visibly) the 2006
Hollywood Dreams. Her contribution to
this project -- a deft and humorous lead
role as Margie Chizek, a Midwestern
immigrant to Hollywood with big-star
dreams who undergoes a brutal and
hilarious metamorphosis in the face of
Tinseltown romance -- drew hearty praise
from even those critics who responded
negatively to the film itself. Frederick
and Jaglom worked together on a
sophomore occasion with the 2008 Irene
in Time, a seriocomic exploration of
father-daughter relationships.
Tanna loves to indulge in
competitive sports to bust out the
stress, According to her "I can get
it (stress) out with focused activities
like Tae Kwon Do or surfing, the less
angry I am on a day to day basis. Not
that I’m an angry person, but I tend to
suppress my feelings and I like to let
the steam out incrementally instead of
having a complete emotional meltdown for
a week". She love lengthy
workouts where she doesn’t have to
think –
swimming a mile or two or
running, anything where her body is
working hard and doing the same
repetitive movement.
As mentioned in one of
her interview to girlsgetstrong.com" I
wake up at 6:30 am and either get out to
the water and surf for two to three
hours, or run six to seven miles"
Project Save Our Surf is a
way to give the community a chance to
celebrate our water, access to
opportunity to raise awareness and
invest fortitude and resolve to continue
to improve our oceans for future
generations. Years before the BP oil
spill became the hot topic of the day,
Frederick founded Project Save Our
Surf, a not-for-profit
organization dedicated to cleaning and
preserving areas such as the Santa
Monica Bay. "It's just sad in the Santa
Monica Bay that we can't surf for 72
hours after a rainstorm because the
sewage is leaking off. It's not fun
surfing next to toilet paper," Frederick
told Associated Content via telephone.
Frederick said that surfing in waters
like these can lead to infections. "It's
not great when your BFF (best friend
forever) becomes your ear, nose and
throat doctor. It's a continuous cycle
of being sick, not just for us but for
the marine life as well and the people
who inhabit this area."
This is what Tanna Frederick has
to say about Women Fitness "What an
excellent site!!!!! There couldn't be a
more empowering site for women to check
out who want to get in touch and on par
with their bodies, mind, and spirit-This
is a fantastic daily reference for
women, a healthy alternative to all of
the quick-fix superficial attitudes that
pervade our society...Fitness
comes from self-love, from healthy
choices, from feeling good, from
friendship, from family-and most
importantly, from knowledge. All of the
pertinent angles we need to live a well-balanced
life.
Womenfitness.net covers all the bases in
a beautiful, healthy way for us to feel
good from the inside out! "
WF Team, Thanks You, for that boost
