Ms. Namita Nayyar: How your experience and background of many years as a dancer has helped you in your present profession of being a Fitness Model and fitness competitor?
Ms. Samantha Baker Graham: My years of dance and being on stages performing and performing in front of tens of thousands of people gave me a very good foundation for the stage of figure competing. I never get nervous to be in front of people on a stage, my stage presence has always come very naturally to me and I know that 110% comes from my past background. The same can be said for fitness modeling. Being in front of a camera is very easy for me, it is so much fun, I absolutely love creating images especially trying to think outside the box when it comes to fitness modeling.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Share your exercise routine that you do to maintain such a bikini perfect physique?
Ms. Samantha Baker Graham: My exercise routine varies depending on what I am getting ready for at that point in time. I always make sure to maintain a very healthy exercise regimen, whether it is getting ready for a show, a shoot or just being healthy for each day of life! I incorporate cardio training, weight training, I love to incorporate boxing and sparring into my routine when I can.
I also am open to try and do all different types of training. I like to step outside my comfort zone and try something new whenever I can. I believe that you get out of anything what you put into it. A lot of people will do one type of training and refuse to try another or be open to other types…I don’t agree with that. Don’t get me wrong I have some types of training that I favor over others but I really do think you can pull the positive from all kinds. I like to keep my body guessing, that’s when you see change and you can’t see change if you stay in the same routine day in and day out.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What is your diet? Do you take a particular fixed regulated diet comprising of nutrients and vitamins to keep you in perfect health?
Ms. Samantha Baker Graham: My diet consists of incorporating lean proteins, complex carbs, healthy fats, lots of greens and tons of water. I have a more strict regimen that I follow when I am prepariing for a show or if I need to look a particular way for a shoot. I also make sure I incorporate a cheat meal in with my regimen, I believe the body needs this to continue to progress and make the changes. I also always make sure that I have my daily intake of vitamins, I take a lot of vitamins, probiotics…I believe you really need to make sure you are taking care of your insides and providing the nutrients and vitamins your body needs to fully function at an optimal level. The better you treat the inside, the more beautiful you will make yourself outside and the longer you will live a very, very healthy life 🙂
