Rising Cancer Rate for Korean Women
Reported August 20, 2008
More Korean women are suffering from cancer, according to a survey by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service Tuesday.
The number of Korean females affected by cancer topped 188,000 last year, a 10 percent increase on two years ago.
Types of cancer typically associated with women, such as thyroid, breast and ovarian cancer, are also increasing.
However, experts caution that rising figures are attributable to improved medical exams catching the disease at a consistently earlier stage than before.
