There's an old myth that women who have trouble breast feeding can boost
their milk production with a little alcohol, but a new study suggests
just the opposite.
The report in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology says 17 women were
given the equivalent of one or two glasses of wine and they found it
disrupted the normal hormone levels needed to produce milk, some by as
much as 78%. So, instead of helping milk production, the alcohol group
took longer to get that first drop and they produced less milk overall.
