Newcastle scientists warn of weight loss chemical DNP deaths

A banned and potentially lethal substance is increasingly being bought by people who want to lose weight, according to scientists in Newcastle.
The chemical DNP is used to make dyes, wood preservatives, explosives and insecticides.
Now researchers from the National Poisons Information Service are warning of a sharp rise in reported adverse effects and even deaths from the substance.
